to me, spangles star map seems awfully large.... im intimidated just looking at it. but perhaps a simplified star map laid over it... im thinking of how star trek fan maps are drawn to show relative borders of influence, important planets, nebulae, etc fantasymaps.files.wordpress.com/2008/06/map6.jpgMicras would of course be considered a neutral zone.... so perhaps anyone participating in space recwars will need to declare a secondary planet homeworld as their "space capital" from which their fleets will be based?

Micras as a neutral zone is a very good answer to the "where do people start" problem. Good work, Nathan

I do like the idea of doing an overlay for the big star map.

also... do we extend an offer to the GSOS to include their planet as a second neutral zone ... Aura?... so that those nations may participate or will we be shamed out of existence as fantasyists?

I start break the day after the 19th, so same here.
And I'm lobbying to be on the GSOS board, so hopefully I can get Will to go along with this idea. He's in Spain for a few days tho.

i had once had a thought that involved dividing weapons for a space based recwaring system into ranks.
rank 1: was defensive and anti fighter weapons
rank 2: light weapons things which would not be much of a threat to a ship with heavy armor or shields but take out lightly armored ships rather quickly
rank 3: standard weapons getting into weapons carried by larger ships the kind of things which would over time wear down more heavily defended ships
rank 4: Heavy weapons main weapons designed to deliver heavy blows to the enemy, weapons which could penetrate or disperse shields or melt/punch a hole into their ships hull.
rank 5: super weapons, huge weapons which can just tear through a ship with one use or rain destruction onto a planet.
now i realize that that system is very skeletal but it was an idea and one which i thought atleast had possiblity, could probably do a similar system for armour/shields or faster than light systems. and which ranks a ship carries of each could determine the cost
also involving surface action in any way might not be the best idea. probably more a just if you have a "colony vessel" and combat ships in orbit and the opponent doesn't you take the world in x days/hours.
but those are just my thoughts take them or leave them ----

yes, the tiered system of weapons is a good way to keep things relative to each other. we'll have to incorporate it.

Anything more to happen with this?

something should happen. It seems to be coming along, and a Space and Future recwar sounds like a grand idea.

Lets restart this discussion. How many nations claim to have satellites, spaceships, etc? That way we can invite them to participate.
