Well, Nathan asked me to do one for Natopia. www.novatainia.org/user_files2/andreas/Natopia%20Terrain%201.PNGThis is what I'll be working off. Here's the most recent one for Gralus and another nation that I've joined that hasn't claimed yet: www.novatainia.org/user_files2/andreas/Enalia%20Terrain%202.PNGBasically guys, what I need to know is - what terrain does Natopia have? What does it look like - where are the major rivers, where are the farmlands, where are the deserts etc. Do you just want to follow the Physical Map mountains or do you have your own mountain ranges etc? Later, when there are more nations involved, I may reproduce these maps without any city names, just the names of rivers, deserts, forests etc ... but for now it's with the city names and territories overlayed. So I can certainly make rivers flow by certain cities etc if you want that. Whatever I do will of course be checked with you until you're happy. No obligation to take my first job - after all, it's your terrain, I'm just mapping it.

Ok! Let's see. The area round the region Hazelwood is thick forest with maybe some swamps around the northern border and a little jungle toward the south along the border... whatever gets the point that it is thick vegetation (my tribal history of the island has hazelwood being isolated from the rest of the natopians due to their thick forest barrier). The coast, especially around Hazelwood city and Cape Newport can be plains. Tasneemia region is mostly grazing, they produce cattle so wide open ranges. A river from Lee's Summit to Tasneemia City. Robland should be a border region between Tasneemia and Hazelwood... so the south is foresty and it blends into plains and grazing as it gets to Tasneemia border. A river from Chloeopolis to the ocean. A series of nasty reefs stretching from Rostock to Hazelwood city (to explain why there are no cities on that coast, ships always sink!). Also just a smattering of reefs to the north of Tasneemia, where those three tiny islands are already. River from Pavleton city to the bay. Ziegeland and Macon grow cotton so... plains? Oh if you could extend the mountain that is already on our main island so that it goes straight down the middle of the Lochhatonian peninsula (but it is a low mountain range once it passes the border) and then make the rest of the peninsula rocky? This also goes along with the pre-Tasneemians being protected from the proto-Zeigish conquerers. A river from Hoheit straight down to meet with River Egale. New Dracoheim is mostly farmland with patches of forest here and there. I would imagine a river would flow from Frieden Mine to Klaasisitya on Tapfer. Area around Frieden Mine/southern Klaasiya would be rocky. and northern Klaasiya is plains. East Tapfer will be mostly bushland/eucalypt. In keeping with its heritage as Lavalonian land. The area around Bagelston is farmland for Natopian bagel wheat. A river comes down from central East Tapfer diagonally to Estatia. A tributary of this river branches off to Bagelston about at the latitude of Zeemia. Grazing around Butter Cow City. Athlon, mostly tundra south of Port Pragma, plains north of it. Farmland around Doza. Grazing around Hergon. South Mehlville is mostly desert. Lakeside is bushland/oasis. Island of Laste Resort is plains. (Tom feel free to change any of this) our mountains generally go by the physical map. I hope thats ok thanks again!!! feel free to fill in anywhere with whatever makes sense

Thanks Nathan, that's marvelously descriptive, exactly what I need. I'll see how much time I have (I have 4 exams between now and next Monday) but if I haven't done it in the next 6 days ... it'll be certainly done soon after EDIT: Started. I don't know where Babs got his blank map from, but the coastlines are quite different to yours ... I finally have a version with the rough city and border locations (I'm trying to do the map without cities etc, and then add them on at the end). Will start actual terrain soon.

Ok, this is obviously incredibly rough, but I had time to do the basic land layout (I'll make the borders more natural, fix the mountains, add more random forests etc later). I'm posting it so you can see if it's about what you imagined or if you want things changed before I make it ... well, tidy is the wrong word ... messily natural www.novatainia.org/user_files2/andreas/Natterrain1.PNGTwo things to note: This is with physical map underlay, of course. Now, the bit on the Physical Map that is dark green and indicates 'sorta higher land' I interpret as 'optional mountains'. There are some places you want mountains there, other times it's far too large (if we took it as mountains, all of Riponia's Apollonian land would be mountains) and I scale it back, and generally take it as more guidelines than a strict rule for mountain placement. So I've left that part on the map uncoloured (in dark purple) for the most part, and it's there I'll use my imagine to make the 'Physical Map' mountain ranges a little more interesting. Where your terrain has obviously required those parts be interpreted as mountains I've put it on as mountains (like the long arm I added, that I'll put height onto later). Second - this is going to become the version without city names etc, that I'll add city names onto when I'm done. So there are the remains of cities and borders on it ... that's mainly so I have some idea where you're talking about more than aught else. So if half a border's missing somewhere, ignore it ... When I've done this for a couple nations, I hope to get a version with just terrain names on (like naming the smaller rivers, forests, smaller mountain ranges etc ...) but that may be a while away. Anyway, enjoy, and do feel free to make suggested changes.

Looking great!!! The only thing i see is that there needs to be farmland around Bagelston, and perhaps along the banks of that new river you put in.

Ok, I've put farmland around all the rivers except the one running through the bush (it actually makes sense you'd have thick trees by a river). I might use my imagination around the capital, and in messying it up, and get back to you in a couple days.

There are still a lot of what I think of as "empty" patches, but if you're happy with it, I'm content. Added a small set of rocks in Eastern Tapfer - that's where the Apollo Cavern can be

It's beautiful! Let's see, to fill in the empty patches... hmm... Muckypucky Island can maybe be hilly/rocky since it is rich in precious gemstones. The empty patches around Lindstrom City and northern Klaasiya could maybe have a basic mix of medium forests, farming, grazing, just to keep it interesting and able to support their local populations? It is amazing

Glad you think so, I'll just make those additions to make it perfect Done. It appears the Tapfer mainland is a little more fertile than the large island, but anyway ... make Mucky Puckyland have cliffs except for three main bays (they can be the ones you land on). Also lightly forested the two islands near Ptia, and made Ptia, an ancient Micron settlement, fertile.
