Grüß Gott meine Freunde aus Natopia! My name is Johann Boyen, President of the Holzer Confederation, and this represents a special diplomatic mission from the Holzer Empire to ask something of our Natopian overlords.  While Holzborg has for a while been an annexed territory of Natopia, we would now like to become fully and legally independent. We have got back on our feet to an extent with legislation being passed, cultural developments going on, recruitment into the Armed Forces and the clergy &c and we feel the time is right to become an independent country again. Needless to say close relations with Natopia are a top priority.  |

Welcome to Natopia Herr Boyen. Apologies for not seeing this sooner.
We will of course officially grant Holzborg your independence and look forward to being firm allies. A question though, are you still willing to grant Natopia access to your MITO resources? We will get a treaty drawn up shortly.

Treaty of Independence
between
The Holzer Empire
and
The Bovic Empire of Natopia
Whereas the Holzer Empire and Nation has been an integral part of the Bovic Empire of Natopia and has, with full faith and determination made clear its desire to return to a state of independence and full equal standing with the sovereign nations of Micras, the Bovic Empire of Natopia and the Holzer Empire hereby agree and affirm to the world that:
1. The Holzer Empire is recognized as a fully sovereign and independent state, no longer connected by any means to the Bovic Empire of Natopia.
2. The land marked as "Holzborg" on the MCS map shall be returned to the independent government of the Holzer Empire immediately.
3. The Bovic Empire of Natopia shall be entitled to 30% of the resources recognized by the Micras Initiative Trading Organization found within current Holzer lands, namely silver, general farming, fur, and natural gas.
4. Both states shall exist in a perpetual state of friendship and unity.

In spirit, the Holzer government is in full agreement with the above treaty. However might I suggest the following amendment to the first point: The original draft sounds like we're separating completely and isolating! Which Holzborg has no intetion of doing.  Aside from that very very minor point, we're ready to sign. |
