This year shall be the first official observance of Cowmas by the Dozan Bovic Church.
First observed December 22, 2008, Cowmas was planned to celebrate the restoration of the Shirithian county of Smjorkyr which is important to Dozan Bovinism as it was one of the places the faith prospered and grew during the Natopian Dark Ages.
Cowmas is a time to celebrate our faith through the darkness. We celebrate this by stringing lights upon our houses and candles in our windows, to let our faith shine through the dark as those brave Natopian refuges let their faith shine through the Dark Ages.
Traditional colors are the Natopian green, and its complement red, to represent the complement of dark and lightness. It is also acceptable to decorate using blue and silver, two colors of Athlon. Evergreen trees can be brought indoors and decorated to represent the everlasting circle of reincarnation of the Butter Spirit.
It is customary to offer a dairy product to the Butter Spirit, a sacrifice to his buttery majesty. A simple glass of milk can suffice.
Due to amazing coincidence, the proximity to pagan holidays like Christmas and Hanukkah which include gift-giving customs, Dozan Bovics may also indulge in this pagan custom so as to not feel left out.
