Fort Newport was one of the most important strategic sites in the Dominion. It controlled access from the East into the Newport Strait and Borders Bay, which gave access to all of Natopia's major cities and resources not to mention incredibly important to the national identity of the Dominion, which considered the body of water to be the Natopian Lake.
The Two Newports, in addition to sharing a name, were similar in other ways. They were both "working cities" of the Dominion. Space exploration and military where the domains of the Two Newports, no time for literature, theater, or arts. Of course the inhabitants enjoyed the culture from Lindstrom City and elsewhere in the empire, but none was produced here. The culture was military above all else; otherwise would compromise the security of the nation.
After the devastation of Cape, the residents of Fort immediately began rescue and shelter operations. Despite being across the widest part of the Strait, they were the closest city, and most equipped to help, and had a special affinity for their sister city, which could amount to the most visible display of cultural identity for the cities.
Today, the Lord and Master of Natopia, the Butter Bull, was to arrive in Fort. He was to wait for the AGS Timoreomai . Locals had looked up the ship's name in their Greek dictionaries which had enjoyed good sales ever since Athlon's re-entry into the Dominion after the Dark Ages. It meant Vengeance, and rumor was that it had been rechristened for this occasion.
The Armored Goats were incredibly respected and considered some of the best troops in Natopia. Once serving as the personal army of the Natopian Emperor, the Goats were responsible for conquering Lovelian Psycotia and then colonizing it as Athlon creating an independent and secure capital for the Bovic Church. They remained in Athlon as the island's military but still were beholden to the ruler of Natopia, and of course, their living god, the Butter Bull. The Natopian Defense Force members eagerly anticipated their prestigious guests, however grave the reasons for their journey back to the Mainland.
